Funding for Your International Expansion


A four-part virtual workshop programme for founder/managers of tech, digital & eCommerce scale-ups looking to fund their international expansion plans through grants, loans, R&D tax relief and investment. The programme culminates with a pitching event to hand-selected VCs and investors with known interest and experience of funding growth companies.

This programme will be chaired by Ian Tracey, co-founder of Anchored In (ex TKN), and delivered via a series of online meetings with a mix of group activities covering a raft of funding and investment topics.  Ian will be joined by specialist teams from Innovate UK, the Knowledge Transfer Network, ABGi and a mix of leading US and UK Investment Houses, VCs and private investors.


Tuesday 22nd September – 15 minute slots 09:30 to 15:30

Book your slot for the selection day pitches using the calendly widget below and note, you MUST join the meeting 15 minutes before your scheduled slot in order to setup and test your presentation and check audio and video. Failure to do so could eat into your available pitch time.



Thursday 3rd September 10:00 to 15:45 hrs BST

This workshop runs throughout the day and comprises a series of modules providing deep-dive information on how to access different types of funding and traditional investment. The investment part of the workshop includes sessions on: developing the 30 second pitch, how to articulate the value proposition, creating and/or honing the full investor pitch deck plus insights into how and why investors engage and commit. The sessions will be delivered by experts with inside knowledge of how to successfully:

  • Draft a winning grant application
  • Benefit from tax incentives (R&D & Patent Box)
  • Pitch successfully to investors – masterclass
  • Obtain other forms of funding e.g. loans
  • Protect Intellectual Property e.g. Trade Marks

Following this workshop, companies looking for support in making grant applications, obtaining loans or R&D tax relief claims can get preferential commercial rates on some services through the GTM Global partner network.


Tuesday 15th September 10:00 to 15:30 (extendable to 16:30)

This workshop provides an opportunity to dry-run your pitch in a group environment to obtain both peer-to-peer feedback and critical investor-like input from Ian Tracey and the team. In addition, several guest investors will join the group throughout the day to provide additional perspectives and insights to help you hone your pitch.

  • Multiple pitches from delegate companies
  • Opportunity to learn from others’ pitches
  • Get peer-to-peer feedback from other delegates
  • Also get critical feedback from Ian Tracey and the GTM team
  • And further insights from guest investors listening in


Tuesday 22nd September – 15 minute slots 10:00 to 16:30

In part #1 you had the education, in part #2 your refined, rehearsed and obtained critical feedback, and now in part #3, it’s time to bring this together in a semi-final run-off to win one of a maximum 10 places to pitch at the investor pitching event on the 29th.

Throughout the day, delegates will be invited to do their pitch behind closed-doors with Ian Tracey and the GTM team. Together, they will assess investor readiness, quality of pitch, presentation capabilities etc. to identify those companies with the best chance of securing investment.

These companies will go through to the pitching event.


Tuesday 29th September 14:00 to 17:00

Selected participants from the programme will be invited to pitch to either a panel of investors (or possibly a series of 1-2-1 pitches).

  • Investors will be selected based upon the profile of participating companies so as to ensure a good alignment to sectors, growth stage, technology etc.
  • The panel of investors will include UK and international VCs and Private Investors
  • The pitching format and investor mix will be detailed during Part #2 of the programme

There is a one-off fee of £99 exc VAT per delegate and for those companies participating in the pitching event, a success fee of 2% of funds raised will apply (subject to contract).
